Okay, let's admit it - we're selfish and lazy so why should we care about recycling or the environment at all? However much of a douchebag you are, it's still a valid question.
You know how people constantly annoy us with messages of "saving the world" by doing things like recycling? That's because it TRUE! Aren't you sick of the haze? Sick of the crap on our beaches? That sh*t comes from you!
Global statistics show us how stupid we really are. Did you know that if every newspaper was recycled, we would save 250 MILLION trees a year? If we recycled all our aluminium cans, we could have enough material to build a year's worth of new cars!
Did you know, the more people recycle, the cheaper things can get? It's way cheaper to produce stuff from recycled materials. Also, recycling creates more jobs and industries that drive the economy. So the more you waste, the more it costs, FOR YOU!
Recycling has been a message we've been bombarded with for decades but we still don't do it. Though, like any lifestyle choice, it just takes a little bit of effort to get into the swing of things.
Start by having different bins for the main kinds of recyclables - paper, plastic, and aluminium. You can do this for your home, workplace, and classroom! Once you have those, it becomes so much easier to drop your trash in the right one. You'd still have a bin for general crap, food waste and such, of course. When a container is full, you can bring it to a local recycling centre or anyone who's willing to take it off you. You'll be surprised at how many people would love to have it.
There are plenty of proper centres that handle this kind of thing all over the Klang Valley. Check out the map below! You can even ask your rubbish collectors if they're interested in recyclables. Many of them already separate it themselves but would be extra grateful if you did it for them. The paper lama guy doesn't only accept newspapers either, you could put all your other papers into a big cardboard box and hand it over to him too. You can even get yourself some extra cash while you're at it. Even better, there are charities that collect recyclables and use the profits to help certain causes!
There's also a whole media pack of free stuff made for you to help create your own awareness about recycling. Don't just do it yourself, teach your stupid friends! Scroll down to find the media pack and download it for your own use.
